What is SEC?

J.M. Contenidos launches the new SEC Distinctive Seal, a new way of connecting authors with book collectors.

What is SEC?

SEC stands for "Series Editions for Collectors" in Spanish, that is, when a book is published in various editions, any of which can be adjusted or fit into the collection or library of a book collector.

Faced with the resurgent trend on social networks of the term "bibliophile", J.M. Contenidos is betting on the creation of an identifying seal, which indicates to the collector if a book belongs to a series of four or more editions. So that the interested party can choose the most appropriate edition to successfully integrate it into their library or book collection.

The term "bibliophile" is derived from the ancient Greek biblíon (book) and phílos (lover or friend), and began to be used in Europe around the 17th century. It became popular in a context where collecting rare and antiquarian books was a valued practice among intellectuals, scholars, and aristocrats. This period, especially during the Renaissance, saw a resurgence of interest in the humanities, including the preservation of classical texts and manuscripts, which encouraged the use of the term to describe book lovers and collectors.

It is in this context that the word "bibliophile" became a label for those who not only accumulated books, but considered them to be objects of cultural and artistic value.

If you are a writer and your book has been published in four or more different editions (whether with different covers, in various languages, or other formats), you can use this stamp to contribute to the project, communicating to your bibliophile readers that your book has been published in various editions for their collection.

Click on the download button and hit "Save image as", and insert the stamp into your book design.
